Jonathan Potts
Vice President for Communications
Jonathan Potts is a veteran strategic communications leader with wide-ranging expertise in media relations, internal communications, executive communications, social media and crisis communications as well as experience in marketing and branding.
Prior to joining Assemble, Jonathan was Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs at the Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA), leading day-to-day communications for Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport. This included media relations, social media, internal communications, events and graphic design. He also led all internal and external communications for the Terminal Modernization Program at PIT, a $1.57 billion construction project that includes a new terminal, parking garage and roadway system.
Jonathan worked for 15 years at Robert Morris University (PA), including six years as Vice President for Public Relations and Marketing. During that time, he managed advertising and brand campaigns, the launch of a new university web site, and the development of RMU’s robust social media presence. Jonathan’s duties at RMU also included government and community relations, and his efforts helped the university secure multi-million-dollar state redevelopment grants for several major construction projects, including the UPMC Events Center.
Previously Jonathan was the Director of Media Relations for the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University and a reporter and editor at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Westminster College (PA) and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from RMU.
